MEET OUR DOCTORS

Dr. Kady Schloesser

Dr. Kady Schloesser graduated from Honesdale High School, earned her B.S. in Biology at the University of Scranton; received her D.M.D. at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry where she was a member of the Stomatognothic Honor Society; and completed her Pediatric Dental Residency at Temple University’s Episcopal Hospital. She received her Pediatric Dental Association Board Certification in November of 2016. She’s happy to be back at home in Honesdale, with her husband, Karl, their children Esme, Margaret, Albrecht, and Lark, and their German Shepherd, Maple.

Dr. Kady Schloesser is an active member of the American Dental Association, Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Pennsylvania Dental Association, and sits on the board of the Scranton District Dental Society where she annually heads up National Children's Dental Health Month in the local communities. (February if you're curious.) When she's not helping children of Northeast Pennsylvania grow healthy smiles, she's happy to be home growing her garden, tending her bees, running along the country roads she's known since her childhood, challenging her friends and family, and sometimes her teammates, on the Peloton leaderboard, taking in the landscape from a tree stand, and experimenting with new recipes and flavors in her kitchen.

As owner her strengths lie in clinical techniques, business leadership, and her fundamental appreciation for her patients, staff, and community.

DR. ALESIA WALSH

Dr. Alesia Walsh is a Scrantonian through and through. She was born, raised, and educated in the Electric City, for high school at Scranton Prep and college at the University of Scranton. Purple and gold are her two favorite colors. (Actually teal is, in its varying shades, which in her world exist.) She graduated with honors from the University of Scranton with a dual major in neuroscience and biology. Her thesis focused on the trigeminal (tooth) nerve. Chew on that, really, because it’s a nerve critical to the feelings we get in our mouths when we chew…among other things.

After graduating from the U, Dr. Alesia advanced to the Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, a part of Temple University Health Systems. In addition to her coursework in Philadelphia, Dr. Alesia went outside the country sharing her passion and purpose at orphanages in Lima, Peru and Ensenada, Mexico. There she set up and operated fully functioning portable dental clinics and provided comprehensive dental care to children and families. She stayed in Philadelphia for her residency at Temple University Hospital. At Temple, Dr. Alesia trained extensively in oral conscious sedation. She presented her research on the efficiency of isolite with sealant placements at the 2019 American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Annual Meeting in Chicago.

Now happy to be back close to her family, Dr. Alesia is enjoying doing the many things she loves about her hometown like running the trails at Lake Scranton and exploring new recipes with veggies from her garden. She also loves climbing the leaderboard on her Peloton, walking her dogs Nala and Simba (can you feel the dog love?), and patiently waiting for new T. Swift drops and tour dates. (She’s seen her three times.) At the end of the day, she’s not afraid to re-read Harry Potter, hoping to find some secret Hermione spell to cure cavities, or, at least children’s irrational fear of the dentist.

DR. LEANN SKORONSKI

Dr. Leann Skoronski has been with Sprout Dental since August 2021. Raised in Exeter, Pennsylvania, she attended the University of Scranton where she received her Bachelors of Science degrees in both Biology and Philosophy. Following graduation Leann earned her DMD at the Temple University School of Dental Medicine. Keeping her career moving forward, she attained her General Practice Residency Certificate at Hackensack University Medical Center. She took steps toward becoming a Pediatric Dentist first with a fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, part of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, and then through a Post-Doctoral Certificate Program with East Carolina University. She then worked as a Pediatric Dentist in North Carolina and Hawaii before coming home to Northeast Pennsylvania.

And although she’s happy at home here, she’s an adventurer at heart. Near and far, from Turks and Caicos to Ireland, from Philly for 76er’s game to Hershey for chocolate, she’s always on the move, sometimes in her car, sometimes on a plane, packing and unpacking bags, loading and unloading climbing gear or beach umbrellas, and enjoying life.

She’s hard to keep up with. Leann is a licensed scuba diver, accomplished mountain climber, and avid culinary adventurer. When not sampling the world’s fare out in the wilds, she’s on the prowl locally. Some of the many things she loves about life in Northeast Pennsylvania are the endless hiking trails, family-owned restaurants, ice cream parlors, and foods she finds at Church summer picnics.

Dr. Christina Amato

Dr. Amato is a woman of many names. Some call her Dr. Amato, some call her Dr. Christina, and some call her Dr. Chrissy. The good news is that she responds to all of them, happily.

Dr. Chrissy was born, raised, and educated in the Wyoming Valley. After graduating from the Wyoming Area School District, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology as well as her Masters in Health Care Administration while working as an Anatomy & Physiology Graduate Teaching Assistant. Upon completing her degrees at the University of Scranton, she earned her Degree in Dental Medicine from Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry. During her time at Kornberg, she received the R. Ralph Bresler, MD Memorial Award for “exhibiting outstanding empathy for pediatric patients and a desire to put patients first.” Following dental school, Dr. Chrissy completed her pediatric residency at Temple University’s Episcopal Hospital. Dr. Chrissy spent 6 years in Philadelphia before coming back to Northeastern Pennsylvania to serve the community she grew up in and introduce future generations to good oral health.

Dr. Amato joined our practice after years serving as the Pediatric Dentist at Casey Dental in Pittston. She now spends most of her time between our Hamlin and Pittston offices.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Christina enjoys reading, spending time with her boyfriend Phil either in the garden or with their Shetland Sheepdog Troy, as well as relaxing on the beach in Cape May, and trying to figure out how to keep her fig tree happy and fruiting in a Northeast climate.

Dr. Sue Granquist

Dr. Susan Granquist is a Northeastern Pennsylvania native. Dr. Sue is a graduate of Honesdale High School - where she met her future husband - and continued her education at Penn State University, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Italian. Yes, she can tell you how to say “brush your teeth” in Italian.

Dr. Susan completed her dental education at the Kornberg School of Dentistry, part of Temple University’s Health System. She then spent almost ten years practicing as a general dentist locally before taking some time off for one of the other “best jobs” there is, being a mom to two young children Carl and Anna.

These days, Dr. Sue works primarily out of our Honesdale office. She still very much values the work/life balance and see patients two days a week. As a true member of the team, she joins us at other offices as necessary.

When she’s not busy growing healthy smiles at Sprout Dental, she’s busy growing vegetables in her garden including bushels and bushels of blueberries. In the colder months, the Granquists make their own maple syrup, and year-round they enjoy taking their dog Rocket to explore the miles and miles of hiking trails scattered throughout Honesdale and Northeast Pennsylvania.
